Recently arriving back from a two year learning curve and travel adventure in France, I have been thrown back in the fast-paced swing of things in Sydney. I am currently in my 5th year or studies at UTS, Sydney, and "third" year of Industrial Design Studies.
I am doing a double degree in International Studies, and Industrial Design, and so the structure of my studies went a little something like this. In first year (2007), i started a great course with a whole bunch of wonderful people, (who have now gone on to graduate as of 2011, and become amazing designers), but in third year, due to my double degree, i was in the year below. (My "second" year of Industrial Design was broken into two years.)
In my fourth year, I went on a study year abroad, to one of the greatest and most student-centred cities that i have ever come across in my 22 years of living. I stayed there for one year, being clothed, fed, and living off money that i had previously saved up, knowing that I was to go away on this year abroad.
This year was undeniably one of the most amazing, and care free years of my life, and my university work consisted of learning a language (French) that i had come to adore, and writing some reflections and essays about my time abroad and the experiences and problems i thought that the french society was facing - a pretty great year if you ask me.
After that, I decided to stay on in France, take a year off uni, and decide what i wanted to do in the future. I took up classes at the local university and immersed myself in the Local french culture. After six months, i decided that i wouldn't be taking university back up any time soon (as design degrees at UTS start at their subjects at the beginning of the year, and run once per year) so i thought it would be beneficial to stay in France and immerse myself in French Culture a little bit more.
After two long, exciting years in France, I came back to a society that i had forgotten, and that i felt, had completely changed since i had gone.
Now back, and 3 weeks into studies, I have become more driven and passionate than ever. Over the past few weeks, I have sometime fallen, or purposely come across certain blogs and websites that have inspired me to create my own blog to document my learning process, skills, and projects.

I am calling it Red Rabbit and Kompany, after one of my most prized and well created possessions that i own; a plastic red rabbit. A Christmas present from a friend in Strasbourg, I find this rabbit one of the most beautiful pieces of Design i have ever seen or been blessed enough to acquire. The second part is Kompany is myself; as i look at this Rabbit day after day, i am continually encouraged and driven, giving me a passion to design products that are just as inspiring to others, as Rabbit is to me.
So, here, i present to you Red Rabbit and Kompany. Welcome.
The beginning of a new Era.
